The Power of Optimism

We all have moments when we are down in the dumps. Down on ourselves, our jobs, or our health. In these down times, it is easy to let negativity fill your mind and immobilize your actions. When we come from a negative perspective, logical or fearful appeal rarely works in picking us up. It’s when we take the positive view on the outlook of our lives that we are really encouraged to do something.

This summer, when you feel like the long summer days won’t end, embrace the opportunity you have to get outside. Call up the guys for a basketball game, or rally the gals for a walk in woods. If you need a little kick in the shorts to get moving, read and re-read these quotes of optimism.

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” ― Winston S. Churchill

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t; you are right.” – Henry Ford

“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.”                                       ― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

“As long as there was coffee in the world, how bad could things be?”                                                              ― Cassandra Clare, City of Ashes

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”                                                                    ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Only those who attempt the absurd can achieve the impossible.” ― Albert Einstein

“If you think this Universe is bad, you should see some of the others.”                                                             ― Philip K. Dick

“You get to be on earth. First of all, oh my god, what a location.”                                                                       – Louis CK, What You Get With A Basic Life
